The road goes on forever and the party never ends - The Highwaymen.
Nick loved the open road. He wasn’t picky in the ways he enjoyed it - on his motorcycle, in his truck or riding along on a skateboard. His years sporting different varieties of beards and moustaches gave a place for the wind to blow through his hair as he rode (if you knew Nick, you knew he grew hair everywhere, but the top of his head). No matter how he chose to travel on those long stretches of roads you could be certain he had his tunes on. Waylon Jennings, Sturgill Simpson, The Band… the list goes on - if it had a good story and the right twang, Nick listened and sang along.
For our first unofficial ‘Nick Project’ a section of highway was adopted - a spot looking over Gap Lake between Canmore and Exshaw. This 3 km stretch is now our responsibility to tidy up a couple times a year to ensure other road enthusiasts and wildlife don’t have to wade through garbage. Our first clean up was a beautiful fall day and if Nick had been there he would have said ‘Cheese and rice guys, why are we walking along this road when we could be riding it?!’
Stay tuned for our next adventure with Nick.
